How to Make Your Home Your Own

You’ve been searching for the perfect home to call your own. You just had your offer accepted, congrats on this next adventure! If you purchased a pre-owned home, it can be overwhelming trying to visualize exactly where you want your belongings and how you want your home to look. This blog is for YOU! So how do you make some quick subtle changes that will make your home your own?

Paint - This concept is simple, yet powerful. I remember moving into our most recent home and I couldn’t paint it fast enough. You’re most likely not going to have the same taste as the previous homeowners, so one way that you can make a big leap in making the home your own is to add a coat of paint, even if it’s just an accent wall.

Adding a Personal Touch - One of the quickest ways to make your house feel like your home is to add your personal touches. This can be in the form of your favorite books, pictures of family, or even heirlooms!

Artwork - This doesn’t have to be a super sophisticated piece of artwork, rather, something that holds meaning to you. Find a home on a wall for your favorite piece and it will most certainly bring you a smile and sense of joy.

Rugs - If you’re working with some hard surfaced floors, throwing a rug down can definitely make a home feel, well, homier! With a rug you can definitely add your personal flare, especially if you’re going for a statement piece in your room.

Host a Party - There’s no better way to make a house feel like your own that to enjoy this transition with the support from your family and friends. After you’ve gotten somewhat settled, host a dinner party! You’ll be sure to feel at home.

As fun as purchasing a new home can be, it can be difficult and sometimes scary to fully embrace your new four walls. Give yourself some grace and time to get adjusted. Take some smaller steps as suggested above that can add up to a big difference.
